Troubleshooting: conversion fails, freezes, or the result is empty

A quick checklist to understand where the problem comes from (import, wrong choice, one-off incident) and resolve it.

Quick checklist (takes 1 minute)

Start with these simple checks, which resolve most issues:

  1. Reload the page and restart the conversion once.
  2. Disable your VPN (if you use one) and try again.
  3. Test with another file/YouTube link if possible.
  4. Check that your file complies with the 100 MB limit.
  5. If you are on a free trial, remember that the result is based on 30 seconds (the preview), not the entire track.

Next, identify the type of problem below.

1) Import problem (format, size, network)

Typical signs:

  • the file does not upload,
  • immediate error during import,
  • YouTube refuses the link,
  • loading blocked before even analyzing.

Quick solutions:

  • try a smaller (or shortened) file,
  • try another source (another version, another YouTube link),
  • disable VPN / change network (4G/5G, other Wi-Fi),
  • try again a few minutes later.
Related article: “Importing a file or YouTube link: accepted formats, size, common problems”.

2) Conversion is blocked (0%, 90%, “in progress” for a long time)

Typical signs:

  • conversion is no longer progressing,
  • it seems to be stuck at a certain percentage,
  • it remains “in progress” for an abnormally long time.

Possible causes:

  • unstable network or VPN,
  • file difficult to process (atypical encoding, corrupted source),
  • one-off incident on the server side.

Recommended solutions:

  • reload the page and try again once,
  • disable VPN,
  • try a different version of the file (or another format),
  • if the problem persists, wait a few minutes and try again (possible temporary incident).

3) Empty or almost empty result (the most frustrating case)

An empty result or an error related to your audio almost always occurs for one simple reason: the mode you have chosen does not match the content of the audio.

Common causes:

  • you have chosen Transcription, but the instrument you want to transcribe is not present in the audio,
  • the instrument is present but too quiet / drowned out in the mix,
  • the pre-checked instruments have not been corrected (missing or incorrect instrument).

What to do:

  • Reimport your track into the chosen app.
  • Check and correct the list of detected instruments (add/remove).
  • If the target instrument is missing, choose Arrangement.
  • Test on a passage where the instrument is more audible.
Must-read article: “Why the app sometimes recommends arrangement (or prevents you from transcribing)”.

4) One-off server problem (rare, but possible)

Typical signs:

  • you've tried everything (file OK, no VPN, other network) and it still fails,
  • several conversions fail at once,
  • the conversion worked before and now it doesn't work at all.

In this case:

  • try again a little later,
  • and if it persists, contact support with the information below.

What to send to support (for quick resolution)

If you contact us, please include the following information (4-5 pieces of information are sufficient):

  • The YouTube link or imported file as an attachment to your email
  • The app used (PianoConvert, GuitarConvert, etc.) and the mode selected (Transcription or Arrangement)
  • The exact error message, or a screenshot
  • Your device + browser (or mobile: iOS/Android + version)
  • If the conversion freezes: at what percentage and for how long

With this information, we can diagnose the issue much more quickly (import, network, compatibility, or one-off incident).
