BandConvert is designed to transcribe multi-instrument performances into a global score, but errors can sometimes occur. Transcribing multiple instruments simultaneously is a challenging task, and some notes may be misidentified or misplaced.
If your transcription contains wrong notes or incorrect instrument assignments, here’s how to fix it:
1) Instantly edit your sheet music in our in-app editor (Premium Only)
If you’ve subscribed to a plan and transcribed a full track (not just the free 30-second preview), you now have access to our built-in sheet music editor right after your transcription is complete.
With this editor, you can:
- Visually correct wrong notes directly on the digital sheet music.
- Add or remove notes, adjust durations, time signatures, and dynamics.
- Play back your transcription using realistic sounds.
- Print your final sheet or export it as PDF, MIDI, or MusicXML.
- Work interactively on desktop, tablet or smartphone, without installing anything.
This feature is seamlessly integrated into the sheet music view and requires no software download or file export.
🎼 2) Choose another version of the song
If the results aren’t accurate, try a different recording:
✅ Select a version with clearer instrumental separation
✅ Avoid songs where instruments heavily overlap
✅ Use a studio-quality recording instead of a live performance
✏ 3) Manually correct the remaining errors
To fine-tune your transcription, import the MIDI file into an editor and adjust notes or instrument assignments manually.
Sometimes, BandConvert may miscategorize some notes or assign instruments incorrectly. For example, an entire staff may appear for an instrument that is not in the original audio because a few notes are miscategorized into a non-existing instrument.
Here’s how to fix this:
• If the notes appear on an “unnecessary” staff (i.e., an instrument that isn’t in the original audio), you can simply delete that track in your MIDI editor to remove the empty staff from the score.
• If the notes are indeed present in the original audio but were miscategorized by BandConvert, you can move those notes to the correct MIDI track (i.e., the correct instrument), then delete the now-empty track that was erroneously assigned to the other instrument.

Once your MIDI file is corrected, you can convert it to PDF and XML using MuseScore or Flat.io.
🎵 4) Transcribe your piece again, filling in the musical information
For better accuracy, manually input:
✅ Time signature (4/4, 3/4, etc.)
✅ BPM (tempo)
This helps BandConvert structure the transcription more precisely.
